Group History

Cheryl playfully slapping Dennis on the forehead while they both laugh. The current members of Ambassadors of Grace are the husband and wife duet of Dennis and Cheryl Perkins.  Ambassadors of Grace started singing together as a part time group in October of 2003. The original members were Dennis and Cheryl along with their daughter Emily playing the piano and Randy Bartlett singing bass.  Matt Carroll joined the group as the tenor in June, 2005.  Barry Stevens became a member as the sound engineer in June, 2006.  And in July, 2007 Alan Owens joined as the pianist for the group when Emily left.

Dennis and Cheryl had always felt they were supposed to be singing full time.  When they shared they felt the Lord was leading in this direction with the other group members it was clear that the other group members would not be able to pursue this as a full time ministry.  So it was decided that at the end of 2007 the group would disband and the Ambassadors of Grace name would be retired.  Dennis and Cheryl joined another group that was singing full time, Praises to HIM.

After a few months it became clear to Dennis that he could not keep up with the care of his aging mother's affairs and also keep the extensive travel time away from home that was needed to sing with Praises to HIM..  So in March, 2008 Dennis and Cheryl resigned and began singing as a duet.  Since it was just like starting from scratch they went back to part time for awhile  They decided to revive the Ambassadors of Grace name, mainly because they truely believe when they minister in song they are ambassadors of God's amazing grace.  On May 1, 2009, they again trusted the Lord and ventured into full time ministry.

They have enjoyed singing all across the state of Missouri the last couple of years.  Last year provided an opportunity for them to branch out into Iowa and Kansas, and they would love to explore opportunities in Arkansas, Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin.  They want to go wherever the Lord leads them and provides them opportunities.

They have performed concerts with such groups as the Mark Trammell Quartet, the Blackwood Brothers Quartet, the Lesters, the LeFevre Quartet and the Down East Boys.  Some other events they have appeared at include the Jamestown (Missouri) Labor Day Celebration, Marshfield (Missouri) Gospel Sing, Prairie Grove Community Festival, Guthrie County (Iowa) Gospel Sing, Great Bend (Kansas) Gospel Sing, the first ever Branson Gospel Music Convention, and various other churches, organizations, festivals and events.

It is their hope that you have the opportunity to attend a concert sometime, and they look forward to the chance to meet you and fellowship with you. Click Dennis and Cheryl's biographies in the drop-down menu under the Group History tab at the top of this page to learn more about each of them.
